can files be retrived from my faulty HDD
Hi all,
Wondering if you can help me.
I've had to take my HP Presario notebook to HP service centre here in Bangkok.
Unfortunately these people don't know their mouse from their memory.
The problem is the HDD came up with a message when switching the power on saying "Disk read error" just after the BIOS booted up.
HP has fitted a new HDD but I have asked for 2 important files to be retrieved from the faulty HDD.
My question is; "is it likely files can be retrieved from my faulty HDD if we are talking about a small disk error and has not been formatted”?
My thinking was that it's unlikely the whole of my HDD was faulty and with some software it should be able to be retrieved but HP are shaking their heads after a 3 minute diagnostics!
Thanks for looking,
Ne

Re: can files be retrived from my faulty HDD
There are separate data retrieval specialist services out there, but it's not something an HP service center would normally do. Just depends on how much $$$ (or baht in your case) you want to spend...
