Can't create volume groups on second HP Tachyon TL/TS Fibe Channel Mass Storage Adapter
I've two HP Tachyon TL/TS Fibre Channel Mass Storage Adapter connected to my 9000/803/D320 with HP-UX 11.00.
Using SAM to configure the volume group only offers "disk - devices" from the first storage Adapter.
Is there any limitations on D320 HP-UX 11.00?
Do I need to install the latest HWE patches?
Find here the output from ioscan:
H/W Path Class Description
8/0/1/0 fc HP Tachyon TL/TS Fibre Channel Mass Storage Adapter
8/0/1/0.41 fcp FCP Domain

Re: Can't create volume groups on second HP Tachyon TL/TS Fibe Channel Mass Storage Adapter
If you can see your LUN's (disks) from ioscan -kfnC disk, then use manual means to create initialize the disks (aka LUNS) via pvcreate command. Then use vgcreate and vgextend.. etc... Are you familiar with Command Line operations of LVM?
EMC/SAN and certain FC disks (ie. EVA) are still not properly portrayed in SAM -- hence, you can't use SAM to configure them in.

Re: Can't create volume groups on second HP Tachyon TL/TS Fibe Channel Mass Storage Adapter
This is beacuse you are seeing the same disks on the EMC frame from both the adapters and same is showing only one path .
Use the LVM commands to create the VG on a disk and extend it ob the same disk as seen by the other adapter . You will get alternate links .

Re: Can't create volume groups on second HP Tachyon TL/TS Fibe Channel Mass Storage Adapter
Oh that's right.. and you have multi-pathed luns.. if doing via command line -- then you will need to manually add the alternate link.. If using SAM, I belive it will automagically do it for you -- that's why you are only seeing / able to configure on only one HBA..
Use fcmsutil or tdlist/tdutil to see what's hanging off your Tachyon's or use your EMC symcli (inq / inquire tool/...)...
