Exchange disks between L-class and Itanium2 servers
We have several L-class HP-UX servers with internal disks like the "Model A6738A 73GB 10K HotPlug Ultra160 disk, for rp54X0 servers". We're considering buying the new Integrity server rx5670, based on the Itanium2 processor.
Does anyone know if we can use the old A6738A disks on the new server ? Or, vice-versa, a disk bought with the new rx5670 on the old rp5470 servers ?
Regards, Andr??

Re: Exchange disks between L-class and Itanium2 servers
Hi,
I can't see why this should not work. The rx5670 has Ultra 320 disks disks but the two standards is compatible. But, of course, if you connect a Ultra 160 disk to a Ultra 320 bus the bus will work as Ultra 160. And, the reverse, a Ultra 320 disk on a Ultra 160 bus work as Ultra 160.

Re: Exchange disks between L-class and Itanium2 servers
For the benefit of future searches in this forum: we got a demo server. And we can NOT echange disks between those systems. The Itanium disks have a smaller container.
