Convert a Hot-Pluggeable HD to Non Hot-Pleggeable

It is possible to use (or convert) a HD 9.1 Wide Ultra 3 SCSI (336357-B21) to a Non Hot Pluggeable? To be used, for example, in a profesional workstation AP400.
*The first limit that I know is the cable and the plug (is larger in the HD and shorter (with less pins) in the cable of the AP400).
* Please ask me all you know about. thanks for feedback.

We don't support this but there are 3rd-party SCA to 68 pin SCSI adapters out there.

The drive in question has an SCA 80-pin connector that has combined data, control and power lines.

Re: Convert a Hot-Pluggeable HD to Non Hot-Pleggeable

I've been trying to do this for a while with various Compaq drives. Right now I am using an HC0183172A, 18.1 BB, 10k RPM drive. I am using an Adapted 2940W controller. I can low level the drive, and about half the time I can disk it. But when I rebut to drive to format it, I get an error trying to access the drive. I have also had this problem with a 9.1, and a 7200 RPM 18.1 drive. I have swapped controllers, and I'm confident that I do not have any termination issues as the other devices on the chain work fine. Any ideas?

Thanks

sjessop,
I had the same problems with the 18 Gig drive. I also have the same controller you do. I finally got it to work by reducing the sync and disabling Ultra Wide Negotiation. It works like a champ. I got the ST19171WC 9.1 Gig drives to work as well this way. I'm still having problems with the 242899 Model 9.1 Gig drives. I still have not found the magic combination for them.

is this drive, model number bd0186349b (18.2gb 10k) considered a LSD drive? Need that info before I buy the SAC adapter.
