We are looking to increase our storage solution.
Currently we are hosting a large database on a directly attached DS2405 ( 12 x 36GB disks )<- from a rp3440 via 2 x 2Gb HBA's.
For a short period (6 months) we need to support a 2nd database instance.
Initially I thought a 2nd DS2405 would fit the bill as they can be daisy chained via the LCC's.
I've now been informed that they are no longer available from HP.
As I am limited to the number of I/O slots available on the 3440, I'm considering daisy chaining a DS2500.
I've done the usual googling but can't find anyone with first hand experience of daisy chaining the DS2405 & DS2500 - has anyone attempted this ? is it feasable ?
I know HP sales should advise, but so far that advice was to use a 2120 .. hhhmmmnn ...

Solution
The DS2500 is a totally different JBOD than the DS2405.
The DS2500 is the same enclosure used in the EVAxxxx arrays; the DS2405 is the enclosure that was used in the VA7xxx arrays.
I would not try dasychaining them.
There are some alternatives:
1. Buy a used Ds2405 and dasychain it
2. Replace the DS2405, buy 2 new DS2500 and dasychain them
3. Buy 2 new dual port HBAs and connect the new DS2500 and the DS2405 seperately. I would choose the HBA HP PN AG456A
