hardware compatability matrix
I was wondering if there are any documents available which list hardware compatability matrices.
We have a HAS storage array connected to a D class server which currently has 4 18Gb SEAGATE ST318404LC model disks installed and has 4 free slots. We are also decommissioning another D Class server which has 3 internal 18Gb SEAGATE ST318436LC model disks.
We would like to be able to verify if the '486LC model disks are similar to the '404LC disks and are compatible with the HAS storage box.

Re: hardware compatability matrix
Hi,
The only difference could be in the platter rpm which is 10K for 404LC and 7.2K for 436LC.
Both are Ultra 3 disks and should have problem if you swap it.
But the most important thing you have to note is about the formfactor of the cage in which these hard disks are housed. Some of the HAS boxes have half heighted bays and some have full heighted bays. You have to cross check and verify that the height of the cages of the disks in your old D class are same as the one which you use for the HAS box.
Regards,
Naveej

Hi,
"Both are Ultra 3 disks and should have problem if you swap it."
Should be read as
"Both are Ultra 3 disks and there should not be any problem if you swap it."
Sorry for the inconvenience.
