recovering overwritten files

Good day everyone!
Is there any software that can recover 'overwritten files'. I have tried several file recovery softwares but they didn,t seem to revocer those who are overwritten.
Thanks!

Re: recovering overwritten files

Usually, if you overwrite the data of an existing file... that data becomes unrecoverable imediately since, well... the data is effectively gone.

If you just delete a file, sometimes the data hangs around as only the file header gets modified to make it look like the file is deleted. (Usually in a Windows System).

I am not aware of any software that can recover data that has been overwritten already, unless it is underlying software like Norton Unerase where even though you may delete something, the file is still there and the area of disk were the data is does not get touched until you empty out the cache.
