Hang on boot over SAN
I have just ignited an image to our rp7400 server to a disk on an EMC array. EMC have told me it is supported. However, when the system reboots after the ignite image is installed, it hangs at the following point:
Processor is booting from first available device.
To discontinue, press any key within 10 seconds.
10 seconds expired.
Proceeding...
Trying Primary Boot Path
------------------------
Booting...
Boot IO Dependent Code (IODC) revision 2
HARD Booted.
ISL Revision A.00.43 Apr 12, 2000
ISL booting hpux
Boot
: disk(1/0/0/0.1.23.0.0.0.4;0)/stand/vmunix
Can anyone help?

Re: Hang on boot over SAN
Are you using Brocade switches in your SAN? If so, check the firmware version is the latest supported by EMC and/or HP. Some versions seem to prevent booting over SAN.
Also, check the version of Ignite and upgrade to the latest from software.hp.com. Some versions had problems booting the image after installing.

Re: Hang on boot over SAN
Figured it out. The port to which the HBA is connected must be converted from a F-Port to a G-Port:
portCfgGport portnumber,1
This was documented in the EMC Support Matrix.
