Omnistorage not supported on 11.11 ??!
Hello,
We are planning to upgrade all of our servers to hp-ux 11.11; on 2 of our servers we are running omnistorage (OMS). We asked HP if we will experience some troubles once we are going to upgrade HP-UX. A technician told me that HP does NOT support omnistorage on HP-UX 11.11.
Anyone ??
Tx.

Re: Omnistorage not supported on 11.11 ??!
Hi all,
We got an answer from HP:
"There will be no Omnistorage support added for HPUX11i. Currently a new HP HSM product (HP Storageworks File System Extender) is in development that will also replace Omnistorage over time. The product is scheduled to be released in September 2004 and will be supported on Windows and Linux. Support for HPUX will be added during the beginning of '05.
Upon the initial release, FSE can be used for other operating systems (and also for HP-UX, Linux and Windows) with an alternative configuration: a single FSE client communicating with a FSE Server. The FSE Client is used to create a number of migrating file systems that can be accessed by any machine that supports standard NFS, FTP or CIFS protocols.
However, HP-UX support will not be available before Q1 2005. If a solution is required in the mean time, then a partner solution can be accommodated. For HPUX solutions, this can be QSTAR HSM:
QStar Network Migrator and QStar HSM
QStar Network Migrator is an add-on tool to QStar Data Director. It provides a HSM solution across disk, optical and tape media.
QStar HSM is a higher-end HSM product built on a client server architecture. The storage server supports UDO, MO and tape media.
Operating system supported are Windows, Linux and Unix (HP-UX, Tru64, AIX, Solaris, Irix)"
Bye,
