3PAR 7200 construction
Everyone, please support us.
I found a 3PAR7200 in company supplies.
The configuration is as follows.
・7200 Chassis
・Slot1 Node 3PAR OS 3.2.1.46
・Slot0 empty
・Service Processor 4.x
・PCM x2
・HDD x6
I purchased an additional 7200Nodes. 3PAR OS 3.2.2.709 was installed on that node.
I would like to assemble a 3PAR disk array using these parts.
If anyone knows how to build it, could you please tell me?
It's not a normal construction method. However, it must be assembled using existing parts.
This is the action plan I am considering.
plan 1
Load a new Node into Slot0.
Enter Whack and initialize it with "Whack> ahci init" and "Whack> ide erase".
Will Node0 then be included with Node Rescue?
plan 2
The 3PAR OS version of the Node is different, but will OOTB work?
Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 3PAR 7200 construction
Hi 555-denoh,
Based on your information, you have two different nodes one is with HPE 3PAR OS 3.2.1.46 and the new one is with HPE 3PAR OS 3.2.2.709.
It may be difficult to integrate these nodes into a single HPE 3PAR storage system due to their differences in Operating Systems.
It is recommended that each storage node within an HPE 3PAR storage system runs the same OS version for compatibility and proper operation.
It might be a good idea to upgrade your Node with the new HPE 3PAR OS 3.2.2.709 or using 3PAR OS 3.2.1.46. Upgrade the existing Node's software to match the new Node's OS version.
A node rescue usually involves replacing a failed node with a new one of the same model and OS version. You might be able to attempt Node Rescue if you upgrade the existing node to match the new node's OS version.
Out of the Box (OOTB) is an option for initializing a new node and it usually wipes out all data on the node and installs the latest version of the OS.
Your new node already has 3PAR OS 3.2.2.709 installed, so OOTB may not be necessary unless compatibility problems arise.
Make sure your 3PAR storage system is backed up properly and follow recommended procedures when making changes.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Satish
