Hello,
I'm looking for a procedure for using export or restore snapshots on a Volume (belonging to a VVSet).
Summary:
Two Alletra B10000 bays in Peer perstitence,
The VVSet protection is “Remote Replication with Coordinated Snapshots”, in Peer persitence and with a regular snapshot.
I've tried an export but when setting up the snapshot I only have the choice of “read only”, I've tried an export but on the VMWARE side, “vmfs read only error”.
I also tested a snapshot restore (by doing volume unexport, restore snapshot then volume export). The Vm of the restored datastore is inaccessible. So it has to be reinscribed from the restored datastore, which means its ID will change.
I'm looking for a snapshot restore process that doesn't impact the VM's ID, for Veeam backup reasons and to have continuity rather than a full restore.
Thanks,
Julian,

SolutionTo have writeable snapshots, they must not be replicated. You therefore need to create a non-replicated snap schedule, locally on a single bay on the VVSET. Once this setting has been validated, you won't be able to configure another snapshot schedule on the same VVSET on the other bay.
This procedure therefore allows you to export the snapshot volume to register a vm or attach a disk to another virtual machine.
