Can 3Par 7200 been upgrade irmware to 3.3.1(MU5)

I found one article as the following url. As @sbhat09 said, version 3.3.1 is compatible as well for 7200. But local HPE RC don't want to upgrade one 7200 to 3.3.1(MU5). I have provided the compatible document to RC. But the RC response that they don't have the experence and guideline document to upgrade to 3.3.1. Very frustrated. Please share the experience about how to communicate to RC team to upgrade 3.3.1 on 7200.

Hi §õ¤å°ó,

 I went through your query.
Version 3.3.1 is not made for HPE 3PAR 7200 series. But it is compatible with 7200 as well and you may not get all the features of version 3.3.1
To know more about HPE 3PAR 7200 to 3.3.2 and also for OS upgrade-related queries, please contact HPE Tech support by creating a support case in HPE Support Center.

The procedure to create a support case in HPE Support Center.
1. Login to the HPE Support Center using a Passport account.
2. From the main menu, select "Create and manage cases".
3. You may choose to "create a case".
4. Once the case is created based on the respective product selected you will have to submit the case.

Also please watch the video demonstration fully on how to create a HPE support case.

Re: Can 3Par 7200 been upgrade irmware to 3.3.1(MU5)

Hi

The array 7200 is a low memory array compared to other models like 8440. 20000, 9450 etc. That is the reason  why 3.3.1 version not recommended to the 7000 series of arrays. If the arrays has multiple features (lik eremote copy etc.) there is a chance that the array nodes might run out f memory very often causing reboots. Also some features (like decompression) disabled to 7000 arrays once upgraded to 3.3.1. That is why the recommended version for 7000 is 3.2.2 MU6.

Hence, need to consider a lot of things before deciding on upgrading to 3.3.1 versions and there is no general recommendations as explained above.

So the ideal actionable is to get in touch with HEP support by logging a case for the serial number of the array. If the array calls home they can check the node memory utilisation for the last 6-12 months and can suggest whether the upgrade can be performed on this array.
