Dual Mux

Just a quick question, Are Mux's hot plugible? We already have one MUX installed and we are going to daisy chain them. And we just want to know if we will have to reboot after we install it.

ThanX,
Greg

Re: Dual Mux

It would help to know the model but in general the answer is yes BUT the system won't know anything about the new ports until you run an insf command. e.g. insf -e -d pci_mux0. Of course, the safe answer is to power dowt but I have added them 'on the fly'.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: Dual Mux

Hello:

Excuse my ignorance, but just wanted to know what is a MUX? Is it a multi-plexor of disks like a JBOD?

Thanks,

Re: Dual Mux

A MUX (when referred to in computers) is usually a serial port multiplexer. A single card has a large cable to a panel with 8 serial connectors (for modems, terminals or printers) and some have the ability to add more MUX panels in a daisy-chain fashion.
