GSP by telnet on L2000

Hi,

I would like to connect to GSP using a telnet session.
I've tried to do it on my L1000 servers and it works but, with the same configuration, my L2000 servers don't work.

my /usr/lib/uucp/Systems looks like :
gsp tty1p0 - 9600 direct

and I use the commande : cu -l /dev/tty1p0
(this device has been created with the command mknod tty1p0 c 1 0x010000)

If you have any ideas...

Re: GSP by telnet on L2000

Shalom,

The GSP has its own server. If the L2000 supports telnet, and it might not you can only configure it from the GSP/MP interface.

I would suggest that the newer server may only support ssh.

If it supports telnet, go to the console, log on, ctrl-b for console mode.

For telnet to to work the GSP will need its own ip address on your network, and an rj45 connecto to aforementioned network.

Note again: GSP does not work through the OS at all. No matter what you do to your HP-UX system it won't start receiving connections to GSP. GSP can be used to remotely start/stop your server and does not require a running OS.

Re: GSP by telnet on L2000

All L-series machines support LAN console access via telnet.

Even the newer machines support telnet to the LAN console, though ssh is an option.

To configure it initially you must connect a terminal console to the machine, do a CTRL-B to get to GSP and then configure the GSP LAN interface from there. I believe 'LC' configures the interface and 'LS' will show status within GSP.

Hello,

You configure the LAN Console port with GSP. Connect a LAN cable and assign it a IP using the GSP port. go to GSP --> CM ---> ls this will list the configuration.

Current configuration of MP LAN interface
MAC address : 00:17:a4:76:58:90
IP address : 10.XXX.XXX.27 (0x0afdea1b)
Hostname : sh#### GSP
Subnet mask : 255.255.255.0 (0xffffff00)
Gateway : 10.XXX.XXX.1 (0x0afdea01)
Status : UP and RUNNING
AutoNegotiate : Disabled
Data Rate : 10 Mb/s
Duplex : Full
Error Count : 231
Last Error : rx CRC error

Hope this helps...

Re: GSP by telnet on L2000

Hi,

only the older GSP software was supporting the scenario you talking about (cu command).
This was disabled in newer version for security reasons.

You need to connect with a serial connection (hyperterminal) and configure the network parameters and enable the remote connection (EL/ER).

This will enable the telnet access to the GSP.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

OK. Thanks for your answers... if it's not possible to connect via cu command i'll do it by the serial port.

Thanks a lot.
