I have to do a firmware upgrade of the GSP's on our central servers. I took the time of searching through the forums and found out that I should find everything (from cookbooks to downloads) on ftp://docs.hp.com/dist/gspfirmware/
However, I do not seem to be able to connect to that site :
FTP Transfer failed:
Netscape is unable to find the file or directory named:
/dist/gspfirmware/
Check the name and try again.
The funny thing is that I'm not using Netscape, but Internet Explorer (to be honest, I don't know what Bill Gates has bought last week ... so this may be normal :-).
Does anyone else have this problem (with solution preferably :-) or does anyone know an alternative download site.
Thanks in advance,
Tom Geudens
P.S. The Internet Explorer is mandatory. I am not allowed to directly access the site from the Unix Servers themselves. I can only access from my NT (using Internet Explorer).
Solved! Go to Solution.

Re: gsp firmware upgrade alternative download
We normally connect to the ftp sites directly from the server and download the files to it. From your server or workstation (command prompt) do this,
ftp docs.hp.com
user_name : anonymous
password : your_email_add
bin
cd dist
cd gspfirmware
Downlaod the readme file and follow the instructions.
you will find some more directories under dist, you can look for the readme files over there too, if you want.
Hope this helps.

Re: gsp firmware upgrade alternative download
And that is exactly what the problem is. I'm not allowed to do that. I've got root on 200+ servers but I have no firewall access (almost funny :-). My only "way out" is from the Internet Explorer on my pc (ftp from commandline DOS is also not permitted). If there's absolutely no other way I'll face the security dragons ... but I'd rather find another way ...

Re: gsp firmware upgrade alternative download
Email address : tom.geudens@infoco.be
Server types
L2000
N4000
If I got this correctly I need the A.1.10 (or more recent) firmware. And the docs as well please. Don't send everything in one email if we're talking in the > 10 Mb range.
Thanks in advance,
Tom Geudens

Re: gsp firmware upgrade alternative download
Just sent the files to you. Let us know how it goes. Go thru the readme file beforeyou do anything and check the checksum of the ROM files.
hope this helps.
