Hardware diagnostics?

Is there a good hardware diagnostics for the HP 9000/N4000, that can be run from outside the operating system (such as from the monitor or booting a diagnostics CD)?

Where do you expect a problem?

You can boot from the offline diags as mentioned above and run some tests (CPU, memory, etc.), but in most cases if the server past the P.O.S.T., hardware should be OK.

The diagnostics found when starting the server are usually good enough.

We're experiencing a problem with the server that we're having a hard time diagnosing. The problem is extremely slow i/o and processing time for a load of a sybase database (during the redo/undo pass phase of the transaction log.)

We had replaced the VA which fixed the extremely slow load from tape, but we're still stuck with the redo/pass issue.

hardware diagnostics may help you to identify working/failed components like CPU, memory or some of the chips inside the server.

If this is related to the other thread you are on a wrong way.

I would search in other areas, like hardware/software configurations, setups etc. ...
