upgrading A3639B to A3639C ?

Hi,

We have the A3639B and the C variant.

We noticed that the C supports 750MHz cpu's.

Is it possible to upgrade the B server to A c model without changing the motherboard ?

I was wondering if we could just upgrade the firmware to make it a C and make it support the 750MHz cpu's

thx in advance !

thx

The power supply's look identical, when you put A C power supply in a B he says not supported or something like that :p
Unbelievable...

There is in fact only 1 power supply, but different power PODs (for supporting different type of CPU).

Hope this helps!

hi,

you need to change the system board and cpu's and possibly the cpu processor support modules, depending upon the ones you have already

>Unbelievable...

why is that unbelievable?

as CPU clock frequency is very much related to power consumption, it's hardly surprising that a power supply for a faster clocked processor outputs more power.

If I put a bigger engine in my car, I might have to chnage the transmission as well...

the different cpu processor support modules delivers lower voltages for newer cpus, that's it.

Hope this helps!
