Re: HP D230 machine reboot question !!!
First you need to check is there a new crash/core directory has been created on /var/adm/crash after the system rebooted by itself ? The contain of crash/core directory is needed for HP to investigate the issue.
Second, you can check also is there a new ts99 file created after the system rebooted by itself (check the timestamp). Check also the timestamp on the file by running the command below :
# more /var/tombstones/ts99
If the timestamp is valid, most the issue due to the hardware issue.
Check also the files below :
/var/adm/syslog/syslog.log
/var/adm/syslog/OLDsyslog.log
/var/opt/resmon/log/event.log
On the system, check what's the LCD status when the system rebooted by itself (if possible) and check whether there's an attention light coming from the HDD, the cards (at the rear of the system).
Hope this information can help you.
Cheers,
AW

Re: HP D230 machine reboot question !!!
a TOC can be caused by
1.) Manual Interaction (turning powerbutton on/off three times within a second)
2.) Software (most probable: Service Guard in case of network problems)
3.) A defect power switch (not very probable, happens normaly only when you try to power off the system)
4.) a defect CPU
5.) After an HPMC. In this case you should see an actual timestamp in the file /var/tombstones/ts99. I'm not sure if the Online Diagnostics can read the HPMC tombstones of a D230 (PCX-L2 CPU). Please check also in the BCH service menue with the "PIM" command: Reboot, then stop the autobootprocess within 10 seconds when prompted and go to service menue.)
You should also check /var/adm/crash for an actual memory dump.
Both the dump and the HPMC tombstone can only be analyzed by HP support ...
best regards
Stefan

Re: HP D230 machine reboot question !!!
Replace the power switch on the front panel. This is the main cause of rebooting of D230 model
