maybe you remember me, maybe not .. :-)
To become more experienced with HP systems and their OS, I don't want to get that by acting on our live systems, I bought a second-hand system at ebay.
The system runs fine, the hardware seems to be ok, and also the provided docs are ok (license, etc.).
But there's one problem still alive:
I can't access the Secure Web Console with any username/password the former owner gave me.
So I searched here, and most of the hints were to unplug the network-cable, and to press the "Reset Web Console" button for 2-5 secs.
But it does not work! It won't be reset'ed.
It has still its old ip adress.
Is there any other way to reset it?
It's an HP9000 A180C, running HP-UX 10.20
Thanks in advance!!!

Re: HP9000 A-Class & HP Secure Web Console
try the following sequence:
- turn off A180
- press button and hold it
- power on A180
- hold button for ~10sec
- release button
- try accessing web console
Good luck!

Re: HP9000 A-Class & HP Secure Web Console
so I did what you told me:
- shutdown the system
- disconnected the network cable
- disconnected the power supply
- pressed the "Reset WC" button
- plugged in the power cable
- switched the machine on
- waited another ~15 seconds
- stopped pressing the button
- connected the network cable again
Now I get nothing .... no reply from 192.0.0.192 nor from the previcious ip adress.
So I rebooted the machine once again, but I get the same results ....
Is the WC module hard-coded or soft-coded?
So, can I try to modify a file if its soft-coded?

Re: HP9000 A-Class & HP Secure Web Console
When the system goes down I see the following message:
Stopping H-P Web Administration Server .................... N/A
So it does not run, does it?

Re: HP9000 A-Class & HP Secure Web Console
Why is it mostly the last possible step to make it work?
The cross-over cable is broken - a collegue told me that there's one broken one, and I took that one.
Thanks a lot for your hints!!!!

Re: HP9000 A-Class & HP Secure Web Console
Everytime I've Re-configutred web console, I never had succes changing IP via web.
In effect when i've tried to change IP from another different from 192.0.0.192 (default) I never had succes.
So, when i must do some changes I reset console and I reconfigure it from 192.0.0.192

Re: HP9000 A-Class & HP Secure Web Console
The SWC should be independant of the system. The SWC will run if powered on even if the system is shut down. (So you can do things like reboot) It just makes it so you are sitting at the console without actually walking, driving, flying, teleporting, etc to your server. The server will not shutdown the SWC in and of itself as part of the system shutdown.
Hope it helps
