Re: HPUX: HP 9000 Refurbished Servers

also look at Ebay

You will need to contact an HP salesman directly if you want to see if HP has any used servers.

Re: HPUX: HP 9000 Refurbished Servers

Call my buddy at DataSeek, Ed Loveless at (800) 880-0202. Or go to http://www.dataseekonline.com

They're good folks. I've started buying IBM from 'em 10 years ago. They switched to Sun about the same time I did, about 7 years ago. Now they're selling HP, which again coincides with my move to HP hardware.

They're the Monster Garage of the server world. They'll cobble SOMETHING together for you, it'll be as fast as you're willing to pay for. I've bought everything from cables to RP8400's from 'em. Their prices are competetive and the service is excellent--and they've NEVER broke a promise. This last is the most important, AFAIC.

Re: HPUX: HP 9000 Refurbished Servers

Does anyone have any new information regarding HP Support on servers or equipment that has been purchased via borker or chop shop? After speaking to several local HP CE's, I have been informed that the policy for supporting used HP equipment is being reviewed....?

Re: HPUX: HP 9000 Refurbished Servers

If you purchasefrom a reputable used-equipment dealer, they will typically warrenty the equipment themselves for 30-90 days and further gaurantee that the eqyuipment is eligible for HP Maintenance. The provisions for HP Maintenance include a clause that stipulates that an HP CE will be sent to your site to inspect the equipment before a maintenance agreement will be be activated. This inspection will be at your expense at the normal hourly rates. My relationship with the HP Maintanance group has been that they have always waived the inspection and started the Maintanace Agreement immediately.

If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
