I have an HP 9000 D270. I have to add another card to it but it only supports up to 4 hsc or up to 4 eisa cards. My question is this. I have two devices (listed below) and I'm not sure what type bus they use. The lan shows PCI, but that cant be right. Also can someone give me the skinny on hsc?
Thanks
lan 0 8/4/1/0 btlan4 CLAIMED INTERFACE PCI(10110009) -- Built-in #1
ext_bus 0 8/8 c720 CLAIMED INTERFACE GSC add-on Fast/Wide SCSI Interface

Solution
All EISA slots on a D270 start with 8/20/5/1,2,3 or 4
All HSC slots on a D270 start with 8/0 and go up to 8/12
If you will open up your D box you will see where the expansion cards go on the top of the cabinet. The long brown plug ins closest to the back of the machine are the EISA slots. The shorter plug ins closest to the front of the machine are HSC.
Your cards are plugged into slot 1 and slot two of the HSC bus. There is an unused HSC both above and below these cards.
If you were to do an IOSCAN -fn the EISA interface and cards will probably appear last on the printout. The command eisa_config is used to configure EISA cards to to remove the memory of old EISA cards from non-volatile memory.
My thanks to NETSYSCO for a copy of the D-series manuals and the chance to use their D-3xx machines.
