simms in 1 in slot 1a and 1 in slot 1b
all booted up ok and when i checked memory it was 256mb less than what i thought.
ran xstm and looked at memory and it has the following under bank inventory
0 ext0 1a/1b 256mb enabled
1 ext0 1a/1b n/a disabled
How do I get it to say enabled so It'll give me useof my other 256mb.
I seeded it in tight , it wouldn't pull out and didn't get any flt errors on bootup.
This is 11.0 hpux
Thanks for any help I can get
Mike

Solution1) Memory should be installed in SIMM PAIRS
2) Install from largest to smaller memory size
3) Install from lowest to highest numbered slots

Re: installing more memory simms
Installation Rules:
1) install in matched pair in slots na and nb. 2) Usually larger capacity SIMM's go in lower numbered slots
3) Install from lowest 0a/0b to highest 7a/7b slot pairs

Re: installing more memory simms
I had followed the procedures each of you sent.
The memory used was from a unix box we are getting ready to decommision soon that is hardly being used anymore.
I'll try to find another 256mb simm to replace it with. In the meantime is it ok to leave it as it is. The one extra simm that is working gives us more than enough memory for what we are going to do.
Thanx
