Unfortunately, when we boot the server with the new disks in, they can't be seen. we have tried terminating the 2 SCSI cards together, and one at a time and not at all, but we still are unable to see the disks in the internal bays. We have also tried using smaller capcity disks IE. 2GB, but this made no difference.
When interupting the Boot process and running a search, The LEDs on the disk flash as if the system knows they are there....
Any ideas????

Re: Internal Disk Bay Problems on D330
what adapter on the D330 are the external disk arrays connected to?
have you ever used internal drives on this specific system? You may need to connect/replace the internal cable that goes from the internal connection on the SCSI card to the back of the internal disk bay.

Re: Internal Disk Bay Problems on D330
The external bays are connected to Fast wide SCSI interface's
Sorry I should have mentioned before, we checked that the cable between the back of the bay and and SCSI card is connected..
We have never had these internal disks working on this server...we also had the same problem on a different server a couple of weeks ago, which leads us to believe we're doing something wrong here!

Target 7 for controller. Boot disk @ target 6. Priority descends from 7 down to 1 and 16 down to 8. So SCSI target 8 has the lowest priority.
You can see the controller OK?
No disks are reported?
10% of the D class servers had a service processor while 90% did not. Are one of the 10% and able to 'control b' into the service processor?

Re: Internal Disk Bay Problems on D330
open the box, and very likely you will see that the internal SCSI cable is not attached to the disk bay or the card at 8/4.
I have seen that a few times because there were problems with other HW when the internal SCSI cable was attached while no disks were there.

Bernhard

Make sure that you don't connect the external devices to the same card are the internal drives. If you do this, there may be SCSI conflicts. Also, make sure that you terminate the external connection on the SCSI card. Some of the older cards do not auto terminate.
I assume since you checked the connection that the yellow termination chips on the SCSI card are removed from the termination slots.
It is a known issue that the internal drive bay is prone to failure, so that may be your problem.
