k200 wont boot, after mods: data page fault

Hello,
I have a k200. I removed several volume groups, then shut the system down. I removed a jamaica array from the system as well as some RAM. Now the bootup fails. It will get to the point of booting the kernel, then gives FLT B800, followed by panic: Data Page Fault. What can I check? The system will go as far as interacting with IPL.
Thanks

Re: k200 wont boot, after mods: data page fault

The fault codes Bxxx are HP-UX system panic codes which by itself does not provide much information until you examine your crash dump (if any) or chassis codes. You said you removed the RAM .. which led me to this question .. are you sure the fault code is Bxxx not 8xxx ? Because for K200 fault codes that start with an 8 are IO device fault codes (including memory). You may want to install the RAM back in place and see if it still give you the same error message. Also make sure the memory installation rules are correct.

Hello,

The error is definately B800. I have already taken out all RAM and reinstalled. BTW - do you know how to scroll up the console display? It is set to EM100 mode.

Re: k200 wont boot, after mods: data page fault

You did 2 things at once: changed software(removed VGs) and hardware (disconnected Jamaica).
Now you need to understand where you was wrong. Attach Jamaica back to the system as it was - does it work? If no, then problem somewhere in software or you did something wrong when removing VGs. If yes, then check what's in Jamaica - which data, which VGs left.
In addition, you've disconnected Jamaica... but did you terminanate server's SCSI connectors to which it was connected? If it was connected to addon HSC SCSI card - no need to terminate. But if to Core I/O SCSI connector - it MUST be terminated as soon as this is a bus of internal disks from which server boots

Re: k200 wont boot, after mods: data page fault

I reattached the array to find that there was a mirror of vg00 on the array. Reduced it and now the bootup is fine w/o the array. Thanks for the help.
