L1000 Graphics

Hi,

I'm courious if I could run a Visualize FX2 graphics board in a L1000 system.
A friend has this grahpics board and doesn't need it, but I don't know if it is PCI or still GSC...
Also I guess I'll need the 2-port USB-Board but that wouldn't be that much of a problem apart from slowly running out of pci slots.

[supportability is not an issue for this configuration. the system does not even have a case ;)]

(I'm bit shy when it comes to using partsurfer, especially about how to tell the card's bus connector there. :)
yesterday I stood at the edge. Today I'm one step ahead.

Re: L1000 Graphics

I don't think you can use the FX2 in the L boxes, I have never seen or heard of it done before. The Only graphics card that I know of that will work in the L boxes is the A6150A PCI 2D Graphics with the 2 port USB adapter.

Re: L1000 Graphics

I was afraid of that - the standard 2D graphics is quite boring when You could have a fast box sitting there... :(

Re: L1000 Graphics

you could probably buy a cheap HP Visualize server with a high end graphics card on ebay, if graphics is what your after.

Re: L1000 Graphics

Yes, I know - the prices dropped to a nice region over the last year, but it was just about using the L1000 to the extent possible.
I'll save the money for an Smartarray 6402 (HP-UX supported)instead.

I don't do much graphics, and in case there's an Octane by the next door ;)

Thank You anyway, I think the GSP will be the only console then.

Re: L1000 Graphics

Only 2D graphics boards are known to work in hp9000 servers.
