memory module compatibility question (L2000 vs N4000)

Hello all...

Can I yank DIMM's from my N4000 and install them in my L2000?

As always, thanks in advance!

Re: memory module compatibility question (L2000 vs N4000)

Yes, weve done it lots of times and our servers are still running without memory errors!

Just be sure you seat them properly, you may need a couple of goes doing it, we do occasionally. Sometimes they may crash with a memory error shortly after swapping so another reseat always fixes it.

Im from Palmerston North, New Zealand, but somehow ended up in London...

Re: memory module compatibility question (L2000 vs N4000)

Even though HP partsurfer will give different part number for these ..
1- N4000 (512MB modules kit - A3763A)
2- L2000 (512MB modules kit - A5797A)
.. liek others have mentioned you can swap these. Make sure you know the memory seating rules and to optimize the performance it's best that the memory modules are of the same size.

Re: memory module compatibility question (L2000 vs N4000)

Both L-class & N-class use SyncDRAM with ECC memory. However,I'd double check full compatibility issue with HP support (sizes, configuration options etc) for better performance.
