I am trying to add Kingston model memory into the L2000 server.
The system already had four 512MB on 0a/b,1a/b
I have added two 1GB modules on 0a/b with 512MB (2 modules ) on 1a/b.
I am getting the following error messages during startup with flash light on.
The firmware was upgraded to 41.39 from 39.40
Source:7=memory
Source detail:4=SIMM or DIMM
Problem Detail :2 single bit error
Reporting entity=system firmware
Alert level 6: Boot possible pending failure-action required
Source7=memory
source details:6=Physical memory SOURCE ID=FF
Problem detail:A=ECC error
Reporting Entity=system firmware
So I inserted this Kingston memory into another L-class where I got the below messages
Source 7=memory
Source detail =Physical memory
caller activity A=error handler
caller subactivity B6=implementation dependent
Reporting Entity Type=system Firmware
Source 7=memory
source detail 4=SIMM or DIMM
control address parity error
and also ECC errors as above.
checked the kingston web site and these modules support L2000.
I have to return the modules to the client as incompatible or faulty.
Requiring yours suggestions.
Thanks

Re: Memory upgrade L2000
The format of the last package of the three fields in the memory Phy Location is:
..XX XX XX XX 7 X
Extender DIMM Slot Reserved 7 Detail
You will find that you miss a nibble in the first two physical location chassis codes and the last one would point to DIMM 0B (I assume this one was an original HP DIMM). I???m afraid that I must correct my first statement that this is a defect DIMM???

Re: Memory upgrade L2000
Have you tried the Kingston Memory by itself? This would eliminate the possibility of mismatch. You may also want to try to put the Kingston memory in slot 1a/b although in violation of memory rules (FOR TESTING ONLY)and the HP memory in slot 0a/b. I have found in the past that the Kingston and HP memory sometimes didn't play well together.
HTH,
Dave
