Naming Conventions of HP Server

I want to know how are the NAming conventions of HP Servers given.
Ex : RP3440 What does each No denotes.

RP --> indicates PA RISC server

RX --> indicates IA64 (itanium) server

RP series of servers are PA-RISC servers. PA_RISC is developed by HP)
RX series for itanium servers. Itanium arctiecture was devloped by Intel and HP.

RP xxxx --> RP specifies it is PA-RISC architecture.

RX xxxx --> Itanium Architecture.

xxxx --> model number of the server.

For the rp4440.
The 1st character, r, was supposed to be for rack optimized.
The 2nd character, p, was supposed to be for pa-risc (x for Itanium).
The 3rd character, 4, was server class designation (larger # for larger systems).
The 4th character, 4, was for pa-risc (6 for Itanium, yes this is redundant)
The 5th and sixth character for a model within a class. So far, the sixth character has always been zero.
And then there is Superdome and Integrity Superdome that don't follow this at all.

In my company, uname -a shows the following info.:

HP-UX B.11.11 U 9000/800 unlimited-user license

what is this server belongs to -- Itanium or RISC or others (what) ??

@Gerry,

this is a PA-Risc system (indicated by "9000").
Better to use "model".

If you see "ia64" - this is Integrity, e.g.

ia64 hp superdome server SD16B

here I am try to upgrade Oracle DB on this machine. In ordering the DB software, Oracle company have the list of choice for HP unix:

HP Tru64 Unix
HP-UX Itenium
HP-UX PA-RISC(32bit)
HP-UX PA-RICS(64bit)
HP-UX PA-RISC(10.20)

Do you think which one above will be the choice for our "HP-UX B.11.11 U 9000/800 unlimited-user license" ??

Post "model" output!

HP Tru64 Unix (Alpha CPU - no HP-UX)
HP-UX Itanium
HP-UX PA-RISC(32bit) (old systems)
HP-UX PA-RICS(64bit)
HP-UX PA-RISC(10.20)
(old systems)

So depending on your model you probably need PA-RISC 64-bit.

But I'm sure your sw vendor knows what you need.
