New ITRC Forums Categories Created!

Hi All,

As part of the migration of the Compaq Support Forum discussions to the ITRC Forums, new thread categories have been created. You may have noticed them, but following is a list of newly created discussion areas (Family-Category) intended specifically for Compaq-related product:

Compaq discussions will move into the above networking areas, but these new categories are definitely open to networking discussions related to any products.

Hi Ian and Dave,

Dave -- at this point, the "compaq" related areas for discussion are above. I suggest selecting the most appropriate. There are both community peers and HP experts participating, and you may find your question is answered.

Ian -- at this time, there is no Tru64 discussion area. However, we are looking into getting one created.

I'm looking into the requirements for a Tru64 area now. A few things need to be evaluated before a new discussion area is created. Please hang in there while this process evolves. Hopefully, we can get the ok to move forward, but I can't guarantee anything.

Any news about possibly adding TRU64, OpenVMS and/or AlphaServer to the forums. I am new to the ITRC forum and would be interested in the above topics.

I had a meeting with the business units last week re: adding a Tru64 area, support, etc. Review of the material and a follow meeting are planned, so I hope to have an answer by end of this month. Please hang in there.

I would encourage all Compaq progessionals to give the ITRC forums a shot!

If you look at the HPUX forum there are 1200+ pages of questions and answers. It is an excellent place to go to get answers about Unix.

The new Compaq forums will be what you make of them. Invest.

If HP is planning on nuking True64 and putting the best features like fs into HP-UX and....

Planning HP-UX for Intel it sounds like True64 is a dead end forum.

Yes, plenty of users now, and maybe they need support but...

I disagree!

I would think that a Tru64 forum is a great way for HP-ux users to learn about current TRU64 features that will be part of their own OS in the future. These features would include Advfs and TruCluster.

As a current Tru64 sys admin and a possible future HP-ux admin, I believe a Tru64 forum could benefit all members!

I agree with Gregory. HP have committed to keeping Tru64 UNIX alive for a few years yet.

I know the idea of Tru-64 forum is being considered, but I would just like to add another vote in favour. Being an admin of both unixes, I seriously wish I had an tru-64 equivalent of the hpux forums.

Hi Dan,

Like Keely, I also support both TRU64 and HP-UX servers and would very much appreciate a TRU64 forum.

Whenever I have an issue with HP-UX that I can't resolve on my own, I visit the ITRC HP-UX forums first. I usually find my answers with a quick search and have always received multiple answers within minutes of posting a message.

For TRU64, I have to search the sysadmin archives which is slow and often outdated.

As we continue on the road to migration from TRU64 to HP-UX I believe a TRU64 forum will prove to be a valuable resource.

Let me second the motion that you start a Tru64 discussion area. We have 10 GS160's, and 3 sysadmins. I think they'd like the opportunity to participate.
