5406zl - Flashed to death (all LEDs are on)
Hi,
yesterday I tried to upgrade a E5406zl to FW K.15.06.0008 because I want to add the 20-port Gig-T / 2-port 10-GbE-SFP+ v2 zl Module (J9548A).
I cannot exactly remember the old FW version, but it was definetly newer than K.13.58 and the Boot Rom version was above K.12.17. So I directly loaded the new K.15.06.0008.EDIT: old FW was K.14.65
After the flashing the switch rebooted and since then all LEDs and lights are bright up and nothing is working anymore. (the dualcolor field are all showing green; no amber except on the Amber Fault LED ;-) )
After one hour of waiting I tried to hard reset the switch by disconnecting the power. After a couple of minutes I reattached the power again and still the same: the fans at max speed and all lights are up.
Is there any chance to recover this switch (isn't there a CF card in the management module? or over USB?)? Or do I need a replacement from HP?
Thanks in advance,
fips

Re: 5406zl - Flashed to death (all LEDs are on)
Can you establish a console connection with this switch (at 9600 baud) and see whether you can get into ROM mode? From there, a set of low level commands may let you 'jump" to secondary flash or let you re-initiate the software update. Support should be able to help talk you through this.
I hope this helps!

Forgot to mention: I don't have a null modem cable at hand ;-)
But will try to get one (I am in the middle of nowhere here ;-) )
Thank you,

Re: 5406zl - Flashed to death (all LEDs are on)
Hi Again,
The switch usually ships with a console cable - maybe it is on the rack or in a drawer somewhere (if you're lucky!). It will be pretty hard to do much troubleshooting without one, though. I suppose you MAY be able to call tech support and find out whether there is value to taking a look at the file system on the CF card of the management module (with the switch powered down, and MM removed, of course).
Good luck!
LM

Re: 5406zl - Flashed to death (all LEDs are on)
So, I got a console cable now:
Not a single output from the switch :(
I will contact tech support now and hope they replace the management module.
Thanks four your advice and help!
