Can HP 3800 support the cisco sfp-h10gb-cu3m?
Hi,
I have a HP 3800 Switch, and use the Cisco sfp-h10gb-cu3m, but with "show tech transceivers" find :
Transceiver Technical Information:
Port # | Type | Prod # | Serial # | Part #
-------+-----------+------------+------------------+----------
1/49 | ?? | | |
2/49 | ?? | | |
The following transceivers have extra information:
Port # Message
-------- -------------------------------------
Port 1/49 Self test failure.
Port 2/49 Self test failure.
What is wrong with them, should i update the Version or maybe active something in Interface?
Could someone hep me.
Thanks a lot.

As the transceivers are not recognized and give an error they probably won’t work no matter what SW you upgrade the switch to, there is definitely no support by HP on the functionality or network issues that might be caused.

Procurve check the transceiver for a valid Procurve part number before enabling them.
If you want non-Procurve transceivers, you have to get them coded with a correct Procurve part number before installing them.

Re: Can HP 3800 support the cisco sfp-h10gb-cu3m?
Just to clarify: you can use non-Procurve optics, but they must be correctly coded by the vendor to make them acceptable to the Procurve switch.
For example, this is your only option if you want to use coloured SFPs in Procurve switches.
