Choice of a switch
Hello everyone!
I'm not very good at HP switches, but I need to choose one for our company. The main requirements:
- 48 RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet ports
- 4 10G optical ports
- Link Aggregation
- VLANs
- Relatively high switching capability
- Layer 2
I don't need any Layer 3 functionality. I thought that HP 2530-48G Switch (J9775A) is suitable, but unfortunately it hasn't 10G optical ports even with SFP. Also HP 2910-48G al Switch (J9147A) seems to be appropriate, but it's layer 3 switch and has many unnecessary functions. If I'm not mistaken it can use 10G modules.
Could anybody advice something more suitable?

Re: Choice of a switch
You've pretty much covered the ground already; if you want something with the functionality of the 2530 with 10Gb uplinks, there isn't one. I would probably go for the 2920-48G (J9278A) rather than the 2910; the newer models are usually at a better price point. I haven't done a side by side feature comparision though.

Re: Choice of a switch
2920-48G (J9728A) is really cheaper that 2910-48G. Thank you for the advice.
Also I wonder if Direct Attach Cables like J9285B are only compatible with HP devices? For example, is it possible to connect it into Intel 82599EB?
