Command output doesn't pause using serial port connection

I'm new to HPE switches - we recently bought a 5412 for use as our core switch. I've been connecting to it using the console port and terminal emulation program (either TeraTerm Pro or PuTTY). Up until today, I was able to set the parameters and use the 'terminal length' command on the switch to view output a page at a time; but as of today, something has changed somewhere because i can't get the command output to pause at the appropriate page length - it just keeps on scrolling until the complete command output has completed.

I've tried re-seting 'terminal length 50' several times and also found a similar command, 'screen-length', which is likewise ineffective. I'm pretty sure it must be something in the switch because the same behavior occurs in both TeraTerm and PuTTy - two separate applications.

Is there another command that forces that pause at the correct page length?

Could be that paging got disabled, it is on by default.  You can re-enable using the "page" command, "no page" to turn it off.
