connecting switches
Hi
I’m just wondering what is the best way to connect our switches together for our network setup.
Our network currently consists of the following switches
1 x Procurve 2824
2 x Procurve 2650
2 x Procurve 1810G-24
2 x Procurve 1700-24
Our offices are spread over two floors in the same building. On the first floor we have our server room and approximately 20 users. We have the 2824 plus 1 x 1810G plus both of the 2650s in the computer room. All of the servers are connected to the 2824 @ 1Gb. Both of the 2650s have 1Gb uplink ports and are connected directly to the 2824 via Cat5. The 1818G is also connected directly to the 2824 via Cat5.
On the ground floor we have the 2 x 1700s plus another 1810G the 3 of these are also patched directly to the 2824 in the computer room on the first floor via Cat5
I am just wondering if this the best way to connected the switches to create one network or should I connect them in series.
Regards.

Re: connecting switches
hi,
It seems to be OK. all your switchs are connected to the 2824 which is your core switch.
Regarding server connected in Gigabit do not use 17xx or 18xx products they are end-user switchs.
Better products to act as core switch and high badnwitdh gigabit Server connections should be 2910al or 3500 for you.
Bye,
