Default VLAN1 with routing switch 9304
I have a flat network with interconnected Procurve 4000m switches. I am trying to implement vlans. Install routing switch procurve 9304. How I can establish a link between 9304 and 4000 to continue using VLAN1 and new vlans?
On 9304 switch when you assign a port to tagged VLAN, it automatically removed from VLAN1. Per HP, you cannot have multiple links between 9304 and 4000.
See http://www.hp.com/rnd/support/faqs/8000_4000_2424.htm#question27,
Q: What is the recommended way to connect multiple VLANs between a routing switch and a layer 2 switch?
Please help.

Re: Default VLAN1 with routing switch 9304
Hi nathank2006,
According to the HP documents it would seem that you would need to tag VLAN1 and any additional VLANs between the 4000 and the 9304. In essence, treat the connection between the switch and the routing switch as an uplink between two switches - there is no need to have VLAN 1 untagged on this link.
So tag VLAN1 and VLANx on the port connecting the 4000 to the 9304 and tag VLAN1 and VLANx on the 9304 port also. According to the docs this should do the trick.
Don't forget to mark a post resolved if your question was answered.

Re: Default VLAN1 with routing switch 9304
The problem is that 9304m do not allow to do any changes. including tagging, on a default VLAN1.
I can recogfigure it to a diffrent VLAN, then I can do changes, but the problem is that I have multiple switches 4000m and our operation is 24/7. I cannot disrupt the network.
Thanks,
Nathan
