Harden settings on a 2524?
Hey all, is it possible to harden a ProCurve 2524 so that the switch will still remain secure (all settings remain the same) even it someone manually resets the switch? How about a 2848?
Thanks,
Joe B

Re: Harden settings on a 2524?
I beleive the command you're looking for is:
front-panel-security
Obviously care needs to be taken, because once you turn off the ability to reset the switch from the front panel you have no recourse if you lose your password.

Re: Harden settings on a 2524?
My switch doesn't like the command:
HP2524# config
HP2524(config)# no front-panel-security password-clear
Invalid input: front-panel-security
HP2524(config)#
I did the password and the reset but no joy on both. I downloaded HP's "Hardening ProCurve Switches" white paper to double-check and the command is correct. Any ideas on why it won't work?
Thanks,
Joe B

Re: Harden settings on a 2524?
There is no front panel security available for the 2524 switch, it does work on the 2824 / 2848 switches.

Ugh. Not really the answer that I was hoping for but at least now I know the direction to go.
Thanks,
