help pinpointing network issue
Recently subscribed to a 30 Mbps Internet service but none of the devices on my network are seing anything near that speed when connecting to the Internet. Network has three segments, each served by 1 HP procurve 5406zl. There is one main segment which has the port connected to our Internet router and 2 additonal HP procurve 5406zls, which are connected to the main procurve using manual trunking of two ports (so 2 gigabit ports connecting segment 1 to segment 2 and 2 additonal gigabit ports connecting segment 1 to segment 3). N the port status page all the trunk ports are showing as 1000FDx, flow control off and lacp disabled. I have done extensive searching for any malware that could be taking up bandwidth (only have ~150 nodes), but all seems clear. Utilization reports on my Internet service consistently show that we are barely scratching the surface and using about 3-5 Mbps during business hours. Internal network services like email and file transfers seem fine and fast, but Internet activity like downloading large files or watching video is extremely slow. I've used the argonne natinoal lab ndt server to test my Internet connection and it tells me that 'network based flow control limits the throughput to 1.83 Mbps. The Internet provider reports that all is clear on their end and it must be something in our network. I've tried manually setting link speeds and enabling\disabling flow control on ports in the switches with no apparent effect. Anyone have any ideas of what might be wrong?
P.S. This thread has been moved from Switches, Hubs, Modems (Legacy ITRC forum) to ProCurve / ProVision-Based. -HP Forum Moderator

Re: help pinpointing network issue
Please check the status of the router and if it is a normal DSL modem or something like that try to connect a device to it directly and test the connection, maybe the issue is with the router.
