HP 2920 work as dhcp-server / clients with PXEboot can't find file or filename to long
Hello,
i've configured an hp 2920 with actual firmware (WB.16.01.0007) as dhcpv4-server. It is working fine with static and dynamic pools. My problem is that everything in the network, in the office and at customer is booting for service over PXE. The Problem: the most client can't boot anymore with pxe. Errors:
1.) File not fount
2.) Filename to long
With an normal linuxdhcp it is working fine. I have not found an bugreport over that or something similar.
For example: All Lenovenotebooks can boot. Aususmotherboard (Filename to long) not and Zotac (File not found) also not.
But KVM/Virtualbox VM's are booting normal with pxe.
Here one piece of my config.
dhcp-server pool "pc-0543" bootfile-name "pxelinux.0" default-router "172.18.20.62" dns-server "172.18.20.62" lease infinite static-bind ip 172.18.20.15 255.255.255.192 mac 00414e-41e16e tftp-server server-ip 172.18.20.40
So the other way was to use the dhcp raw options. But this is not allowed:
option 67 hex 7078656c696e75782e3000 DHCP server does not allow raw option 67.
So what? It is really strange. Can anyone help me please that i can use the dhcp-server with pxeboot?
Thanks a lot
Best Regards

Re: HP 2920 work as dhcp-server / clients with PXEboot can't find file or filename to long
Shouldn't be
option 67 hex 7078656c696e75782e30
instead of
option 67 hex 7078656c696e75782e3000
for the Bootfile Name pxelinux.0 (ASCII to HEX converted)?
Interesting to know if it is just sufficient to point to the file pxelinux.0 only or is it necessary to add also the relative path respect to the TFTP server's root...in the Bootfile Name filename.
The resulting message DHCP server does not allow raw option 67 happens again?
Probably a Bug if that DHCP RAW option was declared as supported as for relevant RFCs (mainly RFC 2132) but it doesn't work as expected.

Re: HP 2920 work as dhcp-server / clients with PXEboot can't find file or filename to long
Hello,
i don't know why i had this doble 00... thanks.
But yes it does also not work. I've testet other options. But no works. For every option the same error:
DHCP server does not allow raw option XX. ;(
But most likely this will not solved my main error. So what do you think, what could be the mainproblem with this "file name to long" and "file not found"? Find no information about this in connection with HP Switch. But i think other people must have the same problem.
