HP switches new setup
Hi Team,
We need to configure a network with HP switches E8200 .
I am new to HP world, it would be very helpful to receive any advise from any of you on the DOs and DONTs for the configuration.
Thank you.

Re: HP switches new setup
I think no-one is answering, because we don't know anything about your requirements.
For example... whether you assign IP-addresses on the VLAN's on any of the switches depends on the fact if you need to route between them. If you don't need to route through these switches, don't assign a VLAN, would generally be my advice.
You will probably need some variation of STP for redundancy, you will probably need LLDP-MED for the phones and/or WiFi. You will probably need some QoS configuration (for VoIP, CCTV and IPTV) that fits your specific need and topology. You may need PoE tweaks, if using more than certain amounts of PoE-power, depending on your specific hardware-setup.
In all... it really sounds like your network is large and complex enough to have a network-consultant have a serious look at your design.

Re: HP switches new setup
Completely agree with John here. If your network has the budget available to afford a 8200zl and 10x 3500yl switches, you should be able to afford a consultant (you could contact HP or just one of the many partners), as in this case it sounds like you really need one.
