HPE 2920 2-Port Stacking Module/Cable Reliability

Are the HPE 2920 2-port stacking modules/cables know for having flakey connectors?

We have a stack of four 2920s that gets stack disconnects if you just brush against one of the stacking cables.

I'm going to try cleaning them with compressed air and contact cleaner, but thought I'd ask...

HPE Defect Search lookup tool doesn't report anything about stacking cables (or stacking module's connectors) mechanical issues: it doesn't mean that issues aren't possible (it means, eventuallym that such issues aren't reported to HP/HPE at all or that - if reported - HP/HPE doesn't list them publicly on Defect Search).

Were stacking cables firmly connected into stacking module connectors?

As reference, HP/HPE/Aruba 2920 Switch series stacking cables SKUs:

  • 0.5 m Stacking Cable (J9734A)
  • 1.0 m Stacking Cable (J9735A)
  • 3.0 m Stacking Cable (J9736A)

Thanks for linking the defect lookup tool - I wasn't aware of that.

Yeah, everything was securely connected.

I cleaned all the stacking plugs and sockets with contact cleaner, and the problem has gone away.
