Load balancing on a 2920 isn't working

I have a brand new procurve 2920 that I've been trying to connect to a Windows 2008r2 server with a 4 port Broadcom gig nic. I've got the Broadcom BASC software installed on the server and I've got 4 cat 5e cables connected to consecutive ports on my switch. The firmware is WB.15.16.0005.

I've been able  to create a static trunk between the the server and the switch but when I look at the ports the majority of the traffic is running through 1 port.  I tried changing the load-balancing to layer2 but the only options available are layer 3 and layer 4. In fact a lot of the commands I see in the documentation don't have any effect.

Any ideas?

Re: Load balancing on a 2920 isn't working

Switches don't do load-balancing. All they do is use the characteristics contained in each individual frame (like source/destination MAC or IP) and randomly assign it to one of the available members of a Trunk.
If all your packets are identical in the characteristic that's used, they will all be switched identically

If you want to balance the traffic a bit more than what you're getting, you would need to be using multiple devices.
