Performance on single thread optics versus duplex connector optics

Hi.

We are establishing a disaster recovery site and are leasing dark fibre to the site. We are currently evaluating using 10Gb single thread optics(se picture) to minimize costs.

HP J9151A-BX10D-3327

Anyone have experience regarding usage and if there is some perfomance issues versus duplex connectiors?

Re: Performance on single thread optics versus duplex connector optics

I've used single-core fibre links, not a problem.

I've tended to break them out using either a 2-channel circulator or an 8-channel WDM, but those single core transceivers will work.

The main issue is that the single core severely limits your options when it comes to multi-channeling it. Things may have changed, but whereas with 2 cores I used to have options giving me 8, 16, or up to 64 channels, a single core I don't think I ever found anything that would give me more than 9. So providing 90Gb is all you will ever need than a single core should do you fine.
