ProCurve 3500-24 Software-Rate Limit
Hi everyone,
I have a question about the software-rate limit of an openflow instance. In the
HP Switch Software OpenFlow Administrator's Guide K/KA/WB 15.14
it says that the maximum software-rate limit is 10000pps which is true. It also says that this is the maximum resource an openflow instance can use.
Well I have created 3 OpenFlow instances (Instances 1,2,3) and each one of them is at 10000pps software-rate limit.
I connected the instances in series so Host1(Sender) <---> Instance 1 <---> Instance 2 <---> Instance 3 <---> Host2(Receiver)
The traffic is created by iperf at host 1 and reaches instance 1, then goes to 2,3 and eventually reaches host 2.
I am sending UDP traffic at 75Mbps which results at about 6700 packets per second. So according to the rate limit, there should be no packet losses. Since I am below the 10000 limit.
But there is 84% loss. Around 5650-5700 packets get dropped.
Is there any way I can lift that software-rate limit? I do not really care if this is a precaution. I use the switch for research, so there is no other traffic going into the switch.
Has anybody faced such a problem? Is there any solution?
Can you suggest anything?
Thanks a lot
