procurve switch 2190 software update

Hello Everyone,

I have Hp ProCurve 2910al-48G-PoE Switch and i need to update the software version From (W.14.38, ROM W.14.04)

to W_15_14_0009.

how i can update the software ? is it necessary to update the switch or not if everything works fine ? please i need all the documents needed to update the software because i'm not expert in IT field.

you use putty.exe to enter the CLI of the switch, and type either MENU <ENTER> adn use the menu field of update.

or you can use a cli command:

copy tftp flash <IP of your tftp server> <name of the file> primary

you can also use secondary at last, you choose the old image that isnt being used atm.

exsample:

copy tftp flash 172.16.1.20  W_15_14_0009.swi primary

you can do a show version or shwo flash to determine what versions and which images is being used atm.
