Hello!
I've been trying to set-up VLAN because I really need that feature, but I encountered a problem.
My current configuration:
I got 2 switches wich are connected via optical cable.
My question is how to set-up that ports let's say from 10-15 are on same but separated network on both switches?
So that DHCP that's on 10-15 doesnt give addresses to other ports?
and that devices that are on 10-15 on one, and 10-15 on other switch are local?
Thanks!

SolutionHi Sn1p3r,
First off create yourself a new VLAN ID (let's say 10) on both switches.
2. Switch Configuration
8. VLAN Menu
2. VLAN Names
Once that is created add the ports 5-10 on both switches as "untagged" to VLAN 10.
2. Switch Configuration
8. VLAN Menu
3. VLAN Assignment
On the ports which connects both of your switches together under VLAN 10 set it to "tagged".
This will isolate ports 5-10 on both switches from the rest of the ports but will allow them to communicate between the two switches.
As long as your DHCP server is connected to one of the ports that is a member of VLAN 10 then only devies connected to VLAN 10 ports will be assigned a dynamic IP address.
Hope this helps.

Re: ProCurve Switch 2626 (J4900B) - VLAN Support?
So basically only port that needs to be Tagged is the port where is optical cable between those 2 switches? :)
If I want to have 3 switches from port 5-10? I only clone 2-3 switch, and on switch 1 I just tagg those 2 optical ports?

Re: ProCurve Switch 2626 (J4900B) - VLAN Support?
It doesn't matter that in deafult VLAN everything is Untagged?
I just create additional VLAN with setup I need?

Re: ProCurve Switch 2626 (J4900B) - VLAN Support?
Yes, the default_vlan will always be there, you just create your new VLAN and add the ports to it as untagged members and add the optical fibre ports as tagged members.
