Protecting HP Procurve switches
Greetings All,
In fact, we have some products for HP Procurve switches which are: 3500yl (J8692A), 5406lzl (J8697A), and 8212zl (J8715A) and what I need to know is the professional way for protecting those switches:
_ physically to be in safe condition(by putting plastic as a protection or any way).
_ by using commands.
P.S. This thread has been moved from Switches, Hubs, Modems (Legacy ITRC forum) to ProCurve / ProVision-Based.

Re: Protecting HP Procurve switches
Not sure what you are referring to as "safe conditions" and what you want to protect the units from but do not cover the units with pastic as that can block the airflow and cause a safety issue.
In the "Installation and Getting Started Guide" of each product there are sections on environmental and safety precautions that need to be taken into account when installing the units.
For physical access protection I'd reccoment to place them in server rooms and in racks behind lock and key or using front panel security for physical security.
I'd also reccoment reading through: http://www.hp.com/rnd/pdfs/Hardening_ProCurve_Switches_White_Paper.pdf
