QoS - Priority VLAN on dot1.q Trunk
Hi,
Setup:
- 2 Switches (5412) connected via two 10GE-Links in LACP Trunk
- several VLANs on that Trunk
- 1 critical VLAN (lets call it VLAN 666) which should be prioritized over all other VLANs
- VLAN 666 exisits only on these 2 ("Core"-)Switches
What is the best way to configure this on Procurve Switches?
Regards,
John

Re: QoS - Priority VLAN on dot1.q Trunk
Hi,
The easy way is to process the traffic in a dedicated q , so just assign the L2 prio:
vlan 666
qos priority 4
Best regards,Peter

Re: QoS - Priority VLAN on dot1.q Trunk
Keep in mind that "qos priority N" will only help you if your link is congested. If you want to guarantee certain bandwidth to certain VLANs, you will have to look into the advanced QoS or guaranteed minimum bandwidth options.
