S5500-EI: OSPFv2 + timeouts
Hi, we have a ring of 5x S5500-EI with OSPFv2, all being in area 0. Nothing else is configured, no MD5, nothing. The switches see themselves, so OSPF neighbors are there. The problem: If I ping from one switch to another, I get random timeouts, well I loose about 1 from 10 pings. So, something is going wrong. I already changed cables, SFPs. Nothing has changed. This is somehow strange. So does anyone have similar problems? Sincerely yours,

Re: S5500-EI: OSPFv2 + timeouts
Hello!
I see the same with 4500 and 4500G switches. I think that the end switch, which you ping, processes pings with some low priority: when the switch processes other things like OSPF packets, MSTP BPDUs, or other special routing and switching protocols, the switch processes your pings not so quickly. I think that if you ping regular computers (not switches) in your network, then you will see that everything is OK.
