Scan switch port with prtg

Hi,

 

I have 4204 backone and all other switches is 2910, 

i would like to start using with prtg. to scan traffic and helthy of ports.

someone told me that its not recoomend to scan all ports. beccous it overloding ports. 

and switch can fail. 

 

Is it true?

No, that sounds like rubbish.

 

Your constraint on the number of ports you want to monitor is the licensing, not the switch performance.

Also, the PC/server doing the monitoring could be a constraint if you are monitoring many switches.
