Switch 2530 (j9855)

Hi,

I have a problem with my new switch. I wanted to update the switch and I typed in the command 'update' in the cli via telnet. since than the switch won't work.

When I check the version via console I see that it has a wrong image (j9772a). Why did it take that image instead of the image for my switch j9855a?

Is there a way to get it back working?

Any help is most welcome.

Thanks

Re: Switch 2530 (j9855)

Hallo,

At the moment the switch is in the Monitor ROM console. This means that the operating system was not booted and the switch is not operational. The Monitor ROM console is not the correct place to update the firmware. HP doesnt provide documentation how to use the ROM console and generally actions there can only be performed when you receive instructions from the HP support.

If you intentionally entered the Monitor ROM console by selecting 0 as boot profile, then I will suggest to try to boot the switch from one of the firmware images: Primary Software Image or Secondary Software image. You can do this by rebooting the switch and selecting 1 or 2 as boot profiles.

Once the switch has booted from a software image, you will see a prompt containing the name of the switch and #. For example

HP 2530-24G#

Once you see this prompt you  can update the switch by following for example this guide. Section SW management, page 119

http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.oid=5333803&docId=emr_na-c04656670&docLocale=en_US

If the switch cannot boot from primary or secondary image and always goes to the Monitor ROM console, please contact the support for more instructions on how to recover the switch.
